N.Y. man sentenced in Atlanta for selling unsafe supplements

ATLANTA (AP) - Prosecutors in Atlanta say a New York man was sentenced to serve more than 11 years in prison following his conviction on charges related to the online marketing and sale of unsafe dietary supplements.

U.S. Attorney John Horn says 44-year-old Chenhsin "Paul" Chan, of Elmhurst, was sentenced Friday to serve 11 years and three months. A jury in May found Chan guilty of 30 felony counts.

Prosecutors say Chan owned and operated The Wholesale Source, LLC, which sold supplements online.
The FDA in April 2004 declared supplements containing ephedrine alkaloids to be adulterated because they carry an unreasonable risk of illness or injury. Prosecutors say that from at least July 2005 through August 2012 Chan sold supplements containing ephedrine alkaloids, even after FDA investigators told him it was illegal.

Wow thats a very strong sentence regardless of his guilt.

Unbelievable, he could have gotten less time for selling crack cocaine.
