What appeared to be a tender and well choreographed expression of mother and son love actually has a bit of a different story behind the scenes. One that is filled with humor and a lot of casual tension, with Lee having to work hard to disguise the many mistakes his mother made during the routine and transform it into something purposeful to the audience.
A delicate holding of the hand during the different posing maneuvers was not intended but instead Lee’s attempt to guide his mother through the routine that she could hardly remember. All after Lee helped jokingly increase his mother’s nerves by demanding that she doesn’t “f*ck it up” right before they went on stage.
