Date palm pollen supplement increases testosterone levels
In the Middle East and the Arab world, traditional healers use date palm pollen as a treatment for infertility. An animal study published in the African Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology confirms that date palm pollen supplements may be of interest to men who want to increase their testosterone levels.Study
Yasir Arfat, a researcher at Northwestern Polytechnical University Xi'an, experimented with two groups of male rats. For 35 days, he gave the animals in one group a placebo every day, and the animals in the experimental group date palm pollen. The pollen came from Phoenix dactylifera, the cultivated date palm variety, from Saudi Arabia.
If the rats had been adult humans, they would have received about 1200-1500 milligrams of pollen per day.
Results
Supplementation with date palm pollen increased the rats' body weight, as did their testosterone levels. After 24 days of administration, the differences between the animals in the control and supplementation groups were statistically significant.

Date palm pollen supplementation made the testes larger and increased the concentration of testosterone in the testes. The higher the concentration in the testes, the higher the concentration of testosterone in the blood of the test animals.
