What kind of careers can bodybuilding get me? Along with my smarts for body building? I what to keep it in mind for the future and work on how i can approve my abilitys if i see a response that intrest me. Thanks yall, for example, how can i get a job working with a company for supplements? Or help other bodybuilders?

Hey ION4,

There are several things to think about when looking at the future and body building.
First there is the dream of becoming a top notch body builder with the Mr. Olympia, and Mr Universe and have the title like Arnold or Jay and the alike. As young as you are that is a great goal to have in mind and shoot for.

With that being said, you might want to look at a few thing as well as a "back-up" plan.
A background in human kinetics- the study of how and why the body moves.
A background of Sport Medicine- helping people in there sport progress, and treat injuries when they occur. either as a MD or a clinical nurse specialist.
A background in Physical Therapy.
Also a back ground in personal training- not only teaching people how to lift but how to eat for their personal goals. Just a few things to look at.

pt offers great advice.

I'd like to focus on these three words you mentioned:

  • careers
  • abilities
  • helping other bodybuilders

Careers -- Ask yourself what careers interest you and approach those careers from a bodybuilding perspective. Example: If you're a computer whiz then build web sites for bodybuilders or to promote contests or to promote yourself and others via Facebook, Twitter, etc. Look at "Jeff the Producer" on Rx Muscle's site as an example of someone who took a talent for multimedia and ran with it.

Some "bodybuilding" career options and a few noted stars:

Sponsored athlete: Jay Cutler, Phil Heath
Radio host: Aaron Singerman, PJ Braun, Dan Solomon
Writer/blogger: Steve Wennerstrom, Ron Harris
Supplement Company owner/representative: Robert DiMaggio, Rich Gaspari, Author L. Rea, Lee Labrada
Photographer/videographer: Bill Comstock, Isaac Hinds
Web site: Robert DiMaggio's IronMagazine, Dave Palumbo's Rx Muscle

Abilities -- Interest and enthusiasm will only take you so far. What are your abilities? Do you have a talent to pursue which you can focus in a bodybuilding or fitness direction?

Helping others -- A noble goal, but you've got to also think about the rent and putting food on your table. Many people in the fitness/bodybuilding industry began as hobbyists. Look to Dana Linn Bailey as an example. http://www.danalinn.com/

Believe she was a p.e. teacher who recently chose to go with her bodybuilding career fulltime. Her husband is a multimedia entrepreneur who promotes her and their company Flag Nor Fail like a machine.

With talent, dedication, and persistence, you will succeed. Set your goal and seek out a template so you can answer the question, "How do I get to where I want to be?"
