Nigella sativa is an effective fat loss supplement, meta study

If obese women take 2 grams of Nigella sativa oil - perhaps better known as Black Seed Oil - every day for two months, they will lose one and a half kilos of body fat. We wrote that a few weeks ago. But even before that, the indications that supplementation with Nigella sativa causes fat loss, were already quite strong. We found a 2018 meta-study concluding that Nigella sativa works.Study
The researchers traced 11 previously published studies in which subjects had received Nigella sativa supplements, aggregated the results and re-analyzed them.

Results
Overall, the subjects in the studies lost 2.11 kilos.

The longer the supplementation period, the greater the weight loss seemed to be. If supplementation period lasted less than 9 weeks, the subjects lost about 1.38 kilos. If the period lasted longer than 9 weeks, the weight loss increased to 5.69 kilos. There was also a tendency for Nigella sativa supplementation to have more impact in combination with other interventions, such as diet and exercise.
After all, the weight loss effect of supplementation was greater in studies with unhealthy obese subjects or subjects with type 2 diabetes. If you are familiar with Nigella sativa's working mechanism, this will not surprise you.
Conclusion
The present meta-analysis on controlled clinical trials showed that supplementation with Nigella sativa exerted moderate effects as a complementary therapy for the reduction of body weight, BMI and waist circumference", summarize the researchers.

"No serious side effects were reported following Nigella sativa supplementation."
"However, due to the high heterogeneity for body weight and limited high quality studies, the findings should be interpreted with caution."
