Dennis Wolf Disappointed With Conditioning Of 2019 Mr. Olympia Competitors

Dennis Wolf talks about the lack of impressive physiques at the 2019 Mr. Olympia.

Retired IFBB Pro Dennis Wolf expressed his disappointment with the lack of conditioning at the 2019 Mr. Olympia competition in an interview with Global Muscle Radio recently, particularly due to the fact that this year’s title was wide open and any of the top competitors had the opportunity to win.

And it’s no secret that conditioning was a big issue with many athletes in the Mr. Olympia lineup this year. But Dennis Wolf just happens to one of the many individuals to discuss the hot topic.

The interview started off with Dennis Wolf talking about the top guys who let the opportunity slip right through their fingertips by bringing lackluster conditioning. And it was clear that he had a strong opinion about the level of professionalism, or lack thereof, at the recent Olympia.

“The only thing I’m not happy about is that most of the guys were again, not in condition.

And if there’s a title where all of you guys from last year could win this title and you bring this not ready physique on stage, I think its disrespectful to the profession of bodybuilding.”

“If you look just 5-6 year back, the top 10 they were all in shape.”

Wolf talked about being disappointed with the showing of the competitors and how he doesn’t understand how the they showed up how they did.

“I don’t understand the point of view of these athletes.”

Wolf then talked about his competition days and how he made it a priority to come in conditioned. And he also implied that not coming into a show in good condition often comes down to laziness.

But he explained that he didn’t really know why the competition was the way it was at the 2019 Mr. Olympia. But the effort certainly wasn’t there.

“You have to bring your condition to a next level to be able to win“.

And Brandon Curry apparently had the best package the day of although even he received criticism, of which he even admitted to not being 100% in Las Vegas.

But another big issue was that because 8x Mr. Olympia Phil Heath and the 2018 champion Shawn Rhoden were out this year, the top guys should have done all they could to have the best possible chance of winning the title. Well, that just wasn’t the case, and the best man (Brandon Curry) won that night.

And as a result of the poor conditioning across the lineup of competitors; this has been the big talk which is still ongoing following the competition which took place in early September.
