A supplement with green cardamom oil [in Latin Elettaria cardamomum] increases the concentration of the muscle-released longevity hormone irisin. The effect is so strong that green cardamom oil can make obese people with fatty liver much healthier.Study
Milad Daneshi-Maskooni, a nutritional scientist from Tehran University, experimented with nearly 90 obese subjects with non-alcohol fatty liver disease. For 3 months, half of them took a placebo three times a day, while the other half took capsules with green cardamom oil.

The subjects in the experimental group took 3 times a day [at breakfast, lunch and dinner] 1 gram of oil from the green cardamom. That came down to 3 grams per day. The researchers used an oil that was 41% alpha-terpinyl acetate and 30% 1,8-cineol.

Results
Although Daneshi-Maskooni used hefty dosages, the supplement had no significant side effects.

Supplementation significantly improved the health of the subjects. In the experimental group the level of the 'bad cholesterol' LDL dropped. The 'good cholesterol' HDL level rose by 22 percent. The HOMA-IR, an insulin insensitivity score, decreased by an impressive 33 percent.

Also striking was the effect of slop on the concentration of irisin in the blood of the experimental group, which increased by 36 percent. Could green cardamom oil have caused all those wonderful effects on cholesterol and insulin levels via irisin? If you know the literature, you tend to answer that question with 'yes'.Irisin and the liver
Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, abbreviated to NAFLD, occurs when the liver starts producing fat as a result of an excess of carbohydrates and stores this fat in the organ itself. This process is accompanied by a deterioration of the cholesterol household and a decrease in insulin sensitivity.

One theory is that irisin stimulates white fat cells to turn into brown fat cells. White fat cells store fat, brown fat cells can burn fat.

Irisin is released when muscles are active. Irisin extends lifespan and reduces the risk of cancer, according to a growing number of studies.
Question
Irisin is one of the reasons exercise is healthy. Could green cardamom supplementation make exercise even healthier?
