Long story short, my wife signed me up for a couple 5k's to run with her. I hate running. But me going with her is basically her only motivation to keep in shape and run.

I did a practice run a week ago, and the muscles that run up along my shins were screaming. I figured I could make 3 miles, but it wasn't going to be easy. I took 2 grams of taurine, ate a banana, and drank a red bull an hour before the race.

Less than half a mile into it I knew I was in trouble. My muscles were starting to hurt. A mile into it, and I knew I wasn't going to make it. It felt like the muscle was going to explode out of the skin. It was to the point where I couldn't even walk briskly anymore. It was a 2 lap run, so after I finished the first one, I just cut back across to the start and waited for my wife to finish. Even now, 4 hours later, I can barely walk. I don't feel like i pussied out, I just couldn't make my legs do what I wanted them to.

Has anyone experienced anything like this on cycle? I wanted to do my second cycle in august, but I have a race at the end of the month, and another in september.

On cyanostane btw

I get them crazy-bad! The ONLY thing that works for is such a simple fix...tibialis stretch! It works wonders for me!

I don't think it was any kind of "new runner" stress. I could bang out 3 miles before I tried cyanostane. I'll be done with my cycle in a couple weeks and I'll see if I'm back to normal. I've also had shin splints before, and it wasn't that. I felt like someone was pumping the muscle up with a bike pump and and it/they were about to explode.

I'll work on that stretch and see if it helps.

Can't speak on cyano. On my fourth week with DMZ 2.0. Today I tried to workout my calves. Got a calf pump along front side of shins that left me with the inability to move any amount of weight on any calf machine. Lasted about 30-45 minutes after workout finished too. Going to start dumping down the taurine since it's so cheap to try to combat em.

Did you warm up your legs before the race, on cyanostane I could only run 3 to 4 miles before my legs were pumped but no pain the next day. downward dog might help the calves but I always strech and warm up my legs before a run.how much water did you drink that day?

Screw running!...Speedrope...=no splints, strong an ripped shins an calves

I did stretch out and warm up ahead of time, just because I knew I might be in for a problem. The race was at 9:00, so I didn't drink much water before hand. I didn't think I could drink a half gallon of water then run 3 miles. I drank maybe a 12oz glass when I got up, and a bottle on my way to the race. I also tried to drink extra the night before, and actually had to get up at night to pee.

Also, i had no calves problems. It is the muscle that runs up the left side of each shin bone. (if that's the calves then sorry).

Yeah that sucks, I dont see to many people drinking a gallon of water before a run.I just know you have to drink lots of water on ph
.
