Again, I have only been working out seriously for about 2 years. I am still learning something new every day.
Now, I hope this does not sound like a stupid question, and I know I could have probably looked it up on the internet, but there is way too many miss leading info sites out there.
I am 42. I started doing legs twice a week. Once at the beginning of the week, focusing on quads, ( squats, leg press, leg extensions) and then at the end of the week, focusing more on glutes and hams, ( deadlifts, leg curls, hack squats with feet high and wide). I find that after a hard leg workout, the next day I feet drained and somewhat shitty/non- energetic. I understand that the legs have large muscle groups and can be taxing on the system when working out. And I have also heard that your muscles produce ammonia after being stressed, which is released into your system to be flushed out???? Is this correct and could it make you feel worn out or drain?
Sorry to sound dumb, just looking for PROPER education.

I worked out legs yesterday and I'm drained today. Legs are the largest muscles in your body, you use them for everything. My experience is that after working out legs your body takes a few days to recover. I'm sure it's just soreness and pain.

Your CNS is directly effected by heavy exercise....if you are regularly fatigued after training its very likely your overtraining....if you look at most competitive pwl'r and strongmen they only train around 3 days ew....due to the effects on there cns...

You are correct, sir.

Overtraining and lack of proper nutrtion/caloric intake are usually the culprits. I train quads on their own day and hams on their own day and I don't have the same issue you are dealing with. Check your diet first and then make sure you are getting adequate sleep/rest.

This! I train quads and hams on different days.

I took 2 consecutive days off and I felt a 100%. My biggest thing was that I got back to working out, I was at 176 lbs. With my diet and work outs, I was able to bring my weight up to 192 in 3 weeks. I was pumped up and driven with the response, I was not letting up, minimum 6 days a week. I have to realize that I do have to let myself rest up. Even on my days off, it was yard and house work gal lour. Not much r&r. I'm back on track.

Glad to hear you got recharged!

Guys forget that recovery is just as important as nutrition and training. Don't be afraid to take a few days off per week brother.

yeah....you were just flat out over training....OT in my mind is one of the.biggest mistakes that holds guys back from making progress...its not only the amount of days in the gym but the time ed.in there...i have my clients at no more then 45 min for large muscle groups...and 30 for small...this would exclude any cardio....these guys training for 2-3 hrs ed for bb are either talking way too much or way overtraining...

I agree. I usually hit the gym by 5:30 am and do 10-15 minutes cardio to warm up the engine oil. After that, my workouts are never over 45 minutes.
