Brandon Curry, William Bonac – 2022 Arnold Classic

The 2022 Arnold Classic is already shaping up to be one of the most epic bodybuilding contests of all time. After what I saw at the 2021 Mr. Olympia, it seems that Big Ramy will rule the sport indefinitely. When Brandon Curry hit the stage, bringing 20lbs of added muscle, ripped to shreds, against a guy who was holding water and made no significant improvements, it really said a lot. The fact that Curry led Ramy in the prejudginging, yet was behind by a point on the scorecards, was also very telling.

Will the Bodybuilding Industry Change with the Recent Deaths?

The last couple of years have been rough for the bodybuilding industry. We lost some amazing individuals who helped shape the industry and make it a better place. People who brought intelligence, compassion, energy, motivation, and joy to the bodybuilding industry. While we will all die at some point (sorry for being so blunt), we are seeing many bodybuilders dying way too soon.

Give A Coach A Chance!

Coaches in the fitness industry get burned all the time. Competitors need to think about themselves, first, and that’s something I’ve long advocated; however, with certain caveats. I believe that competitors, particularly new ones, don’t really do their homework when it comes time to hire that very important person who either does it all (training, nutrition, supplements and posing) or professionals that address individual aspects of a prep.

C’mon guys, are you really buying into this? I understand that as fans, especially for those of us who lived the Coleman era, there’s a nostalgia effect with The Big Nasty. It’s like believing in Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. I’m not saying that you can’t remember The King in all his greatness, but if you believe that a guy who up until recently could barely walk, is back to 285lbs and that there’s any chance he could ever compete again, you’re bashit crazy.

Oh boy, I can hear the triggered alarms going off across the nation already. Listen, if you don’t want to hear the truth, go back to your safe space, pull up your security blanket, and ask the government for some more money. Otherwise, I’m going to give it to you as it is. These Don’t Weigh Me cards are nothing more than another excuse for Americans to brush their weight under the rug and put their earplugs in.

The Media Continues to Paint Bodybuilders as Bad People

I’m not going to name names in this article because, quite frankly, I feel the use of the term “bodybuilder” is overused today. But apparently, there was a young man who went to his parents’ Long Island mansion on Christmas morning and shot his dad in the back and his mom in the head. Luckily, as of the time of writing this, both individuals are recovering in a hospital which is miraculous. But it, once again, leads me to believe that bodybuilders are targets for the media, and these so-called “journalists” only focus on the negative things they do.
