If I were to walk down the street, I’d be willing to bet that 90% of the people I asked would have no idea what algae oil is. In fact, they would probably say it sounds bad for you. The…

IFBB Pro Bodybuilder Sasan Heirati is a Persian bodybuilder who grew up in the UK and has seen his fanbase double and triple in just a matter of a few short months. Why? It’s not because he’s created a physique by eating liver or because he claims to be a shotcaller or because of some bullshit supplement. Sas, as he’s called by his faithful fans, has become the quintessential blue collar champion of physique-based sports. He’s been able to get this distinction in a short amount of time. Heirati accomplished this by taking two very close 2nd’s in recent bodybuilding contests.

Okay before anybody calls for my execution, I want to state that I am not taking a knock at Michael Krizo. I think that Krizo has done a great thing with posting as much of his Road to Pittsburgh as he has on social media, particularly Instagram. I feel that it’s very important for a professional athlete to give the fans as much content as possible. Now that last note is very important for the athlete and it really comes down to an athlete by athlete basis. Some competitors like to keep the fans in the dark about everything. It’s that old 1980s mentality of wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt to the gym. You don’t show off the arms, you don’t show off the wheels, you don’t show off anything.

That’s right folks – The Mutant just can’t stop sharing on social media. There are daily physique updates, he’s doing really cool things with fans at shows on stage, and he’s taking Pittsburgh as seriously as one would expect he’d take the Mr Olympia. This is, after all, the President’s show, so it’s good to see the former North American champion firing on all cylinders for this comeback (of sorts).

There seems to be a tremendous amount of talk about the who’s who of the sport of bodybuilding at the present time. With the Arnold Classic now somewhat of a distant afterthought, people are looking to Pittsburgh, they’re looking to New York, they’re looking towards the Olympia, but what they’re forgetting is who placed second at last year’s Mr Olympia. And that would be Hadi Choopan. Hadi is a past Olympia champion and somebody that has also won the Arnold Classic but because of the competitiveness of the sport and the fact that fans constantly want instantaneous gratification, very few people are talking about this legendary champion.
