Sam Sulek has shocked the world by earning his IFBB pro card in record time. It is not uncommon in the sport of bodybuilding for an individual to spend anywhere between 5-10 years to earn a pro card. In some situations some guys will go a solid 20 years before they can have the coveted honor of being called a professional. But in Sam’s case it all happened almost like a flash before his eyes. I don’t even think it was one full month from the point that he stepped on stage to qualify to compete at the Arnold to the point where he emerged victorious. In fact, I wrote an article about this for an Iron Magazine about 2 or 3 weeks ago. In that article, I made the point that he could very well be deserving of earning his pro card, but that the entire world would have second thoughts about it. And that is because he is the most popular YouTuber in the world when it comes to broscience.

The talk around the water cooler is that Kai Greene may come back for the 2025 Arnold Classic, but others think the show in question would have to be the Pittsburgh Pro. I’ve also heard about the possibility that The Predator might set his sights on the NY Pro. Greene is a New York native and has deep ties throughout the city and with gyms like Bev’s. Bev Francis Powerhouse Gym is the East Coast Mecca of Bodybuilding, and to some, it’s the only real Mecca. I had the honor of interviewing legendary influencer and judge Big Steve Weinberger at this hallowed ground.

We often talk about “growing the sport of bodybuilding.” It has become almost lip service because we don’t really know what that means. How can you grow something without having any metrics to really make the case? The answer is you really can’t. You look at a variety of factors and you hope that in the long run more adherents are coming to the gym, more people are taking an interest in physique-based sports, more people are buying tickets to expos and that sort of thing. The reality of the matter is that the sport grows but we really can’t put our finger on it because we don’t have any way of measuring how much it’s growing and at what kind of pace.
