by Matt Weik

Now, I know what you’re probably thinking… “Matt, you’ve totally lost your mind. How the hell does my health relate to a Rolex?” Stick with me as there are quite a few similarities that will have you go “Ah” in due time. Trust me, it will all make sense soon enough. With that being said, let’s dive into how my crazy brain works.

2020 North American champion Nick “The Mutant” Walker has been ruffling feathers since he earned his IFBB Pro League pro card. As he prepares for his Arnold and his Olympia debuts, at just 27 years of age, he’s talking like a guy with razor sharp focus. He knows he’s good and so far, no one who has stepped up to him, has been able to back up the talk. Who can forget his rivalry with Redcon’s Blessing Awodibu.

WHY ARE NUTRITIONISTS BASHING SUPPLEMENTS TO PUSH THEIR AGENDA?

by Matt Weik

A few weeks ago, I read an article from a “celebrity nutritionist” saying how dry scooping a pre-workout protein powder was terrible. First off, what in the hell is a “pre-workout protein powder?” I’ve been in the game two decades, and I have no clue what the hell she’s talking about. Now, I’m not going to call her out directly or put her on blast by using her name, but it just goes to show that some nutritionists (even self-proclaimed celebrity nutritionists) have no idea what they’re talking about when it comes to supplements.

BODYBUILDING WORLD MOURNS JOHN MEADOWS

John Meadows was one of the most passionate, knowledgeable, and positive people I’ve ever met in the fitness industry. To write about him in past tense, is very bizarre, to the say the least. While I can’t say we were friends, we were most definitely acquaintances. He knew who I was and I most definitely knew who he was. I’d been a fan for years and I always found his content to be very factual and innovative.

Without actually being there, it’s hard to say what happened at the Chicago Pro. Obviously, the pictures are all over the internet, and mouths dropped once again when Hunter Labrada stepped out on the stage. But the big shocker of the show is probably Roelly Winklaar. I mean, what happened? We are talking about a Top 5 bodybuilder at the Olympia barely squeezing into the Top 5 at the Chicago Pro!

FTC ANNOUNCES BRANDS CAN USE “MADE IN THE USA” ON PACKAGING

by Matt Weik

The supplement industry has been a target for years now, and lawsuits have been filed left and right for, what many would consider, the dumbest things. But welcome to America, where people sue for just about anything these days. But who would have thought the use of “Made in the USA” would have been on the radar for the FTC (Federal Trade Commission), and brands were previously told they could or could not have it on their label or packaging?

THE STATE OF BODYBUILDING, TODAY

  • 8 min read

by Christian Duque

Bodybuilding has always been about hard work. Every rep, every meal, and every pill and powder, contributes to what physique-based athlete brings to the stage. Unlike an hour-plus basketball, football, or baseball game, bodybuilders prepare for 12-16 weeks to look their best on a stage for 1-2 minutes. They’re compared to each others, must bring in a certain level of condition, and must be ready to be scrutinized by a panel of judges who know exactly what they’re looking for.
