by Matt Weik

Breakfast is one of the most commonly skipped meals of the day. Why? Because people are in a rush to wake up and get out the door to head to work or school. For those who make it a priority to get up with enough time to make a healthy breakfast, good for you. For the rest of you… shame on you. Listen, I understand completely and have empathy for your situation. I’m the type of person who needs a ton of sleep in order to function in the morning so I want to wake up as late as possible yet still be on time to head into the office. However, that’s still not a good excuse to skip breakfast. That’s where Viking Waffle comes into play.

It’s now been half a decade since The Predator, Kai “Mr. Getting It Done” Greene, has stepped foot on the Mr. Olympia stage. Most people think the 2014 Olympia was his last contest, but he actually walked away after snagging one last Arnold Classic title. Are Edgy Supplement Product Names Damaging the Industry or Smart Marketing?

Over the past decade, we have seen some pretty edgy supplement product names. Do such supplement product names help sell the products? Absolutely. If it sounds like a steroid or prescription drug people tend to flock to it thinking they bucked the system and are getting a pharmaceutical grade or underground product without a doctor’s prescription. While this may seem great for the consumer, it could be damaging the industry as a whole. This piece will give my two cents on the topic from both sides of the equation.

Phil Heath may not think he’s a villain, but if the shoe fits… When this video came out last week, it really bothered me. I get that Dave Palumbo wants to put out tabloid-type content, break all the rules, and try to get as many hits as possible, but this video is really too much. The title alone, Is Phil Heath the Savior of Bodybuilding, is an insult to the entire sport of bodybuilding.

Recently Forbes released a story regarding the biggest trends in the fitness industry. I thought it was quite interesting and I wanted to give my own thoughts on what they listed. Do I agree with everything they mentioned or is some of it simply reaching a little too far? Being so close to the industry, I figured my opinion may be fun and informative to some. Let’s see what you think…

WILL CALORIE LABELING AT RESTAURANTS FIX OBESITY WITH HEALTHIER MEALS?

I was reading an article the other day about a study in the UK where they are trying to have their government enforce a policy that restaurant menus would need to have calorie labels for each item. Their thought process is that if people are aware of how many calories they are consuming while eating out, it may entice them to choose healthier meals. While I would love to see calorie labeling rolled out across the globe, I’m honestly not sure how much of a difference it would make. Let me explain.

2018 was a very confusing year for fans of Egyptian phenom Big Ramy. In 2017, he shocked the world with a very impressive runner-up finish to 7x Mr. Olympia Phil Heath. At that point Ramy had everything he needed to ensure his eventual success. He had a great supplement sponsor, he worked with a great coach, and he worked with a fantastic gym. A key part of Ramy’s calling card has always been his size.
