Evidence Why You Should Exercise Over Lunch

  • 5 min read

by Matt Weik

I stopped counting the number of times people have told me that they don’t have time to exercise. Yet, we all get lunch breaks that allow us free time to spend however we see fit. One of the best ways to get in your workout each day is to use your lunch break to exercise – and you’ll still have time to eat. I work with clients who I have do their cardio over their lunch. All they do is take a pair of shoes along with them to work, and during their lunch break they go out and briskly walk around the building or surrounding area. Now, researchers are showing that with as little as 10 minutes of exercise, you can boost your brain power. Exercise and a brain boost? I call that a WIN!

I don’t know if it’s just me, but this year the Arnold seemed way bigger than ever before. It was practically impossible to move about the expo area, but at the same time, everyone had a blast and made their way to all the booths they wanted to get to. One thing I noticed and really appreciated, was just how much 2018 Mr. Olympia Shawn “Flexatron” Rhoden was interacting with the fans, media, and officials.

Why Are Natural Bodybuilders Always Questioned?

by Christian Duque

The sport of bodybuilding is all about health and wellness, about lifting and eating right, and building positive attributes like self-confidence, emotional balance, and a will to create and produce, to break from the pack and do your own thing. The sport has given folks with pretty dire circumstances, from depression to eating disorders to rough pasts, a second chabce on life. We are a sport that admires what each and every athlete can do, whether naturally or with the help of supplements. What’s very bizarre, though, most especially within our circles, is the reluctance so many have for what can be achieved, simply through eating clean, training hard, and being consistent.

When I found out there was such a thing as Nuts N More nut butter spreads, I literally yelled “take my money!” Who doesn’t love peanut butter? Even better, who doesn’t like healthy natural peanut butter that comes in a wide variety of flavors? For the longest time, Nuts N More has owned the market when it came to nut butter spreads. However, now RXBar is tossing their hat in the ring with their RXBar Nut Butter varieties. The question becomes, can they compete?

RIP Jeff Everson – Bodybuilding Legend

If you’re a fan of bodybuilding, then the name Cory Everson should ring a bunch of bells!! The 6x Ms. Olympia, is considered one of the greatest of all times. Her husband, Jeff, was a key part of Cory’s success on the stage and in the fitness industry. Although the couple’s fame was before my time, I pride myself on being a historian of bodybuilding. When you look back at the many covers that Jeff and Cory shared, it paints a very beautiful picture of what bodybuilding was then. Don’t get me wrong, I love where the sport is today and I especially love digital media; however, during their heyday, it was also very special. I really miss buying magazines and I really miss the excitement each month of seeing the new issues on the stands.

Beware of the Wannabe Coaches!

Bodybuilding is a sport all about hard work and discipline, it’s not a place for cookie cutters and bums – unless you’re ready to suffer, you’re simply not going to do well. That being said, competitors trust in their coaches, many believing the old wisdom of “you get what you pay for” and the Darwinian concept that only the fittest survive. Whenever someone gains your trust and you then use that trust to cheat them or exploit them, you’re an even bigger scumbag than someone who steals photos or candy bars.

Regan Grimes – Doing Bodybuilding, Right!

One of the biggest challenges to being a successful fitness celebrity, today, is being on your game – on all things. Canadian bodybuilder Regan Grimes, has been on everyone’s minds since earning professional status. At one point, he was working with Chris “The Technician” Aceto, the coach whose clients include reigning Mr. Olympia Shawn “Flexatron” Rhoden and Arnold Classic Champion Cedric McMillan. Grimes did very well with Aceto and was able to secure key placings, including a couple Top 5 outings and a much-talked about runner-up at the prestigious Vancouver Pro. Change is always good, though, and Grimes decided to try his hand in Kuwait – a move many others tried as well.

$500,000 Rob Kardashian Weight Loss Bribe

There’s no mistake with the title and it’s certainly not clickbait. Rob Kardashian was bribed by his own mother, Kris Jenner, $500,000 for every 10 pounds of weight he loses. She is challenging him to lose 50 pounds in total, with a payout of $2.5M upon completion. But wait, there’s more! HealthyWage, a purveyor of financially-induced diet contests, has tossed their hat in the ring (probably for the publicity) and offered Rob Kardashian an additional $50,000 if he hits the 50-pound weight loss goal. They even started a #HelpRobGetHealthy movement where people can give him encouragement during his journey. Will this weight loss bribe work? Here’s my take.
