WHY ARE NONE OF THE EXPERTS TALKING ABOUT STAYING ACTIVE?

While I’m only one person, this is a topic that needs to be discussed because I’m not sure what the “experts” are saying during the pandemic shutdowns make a whole lot of sense. To be frank, I think many of these experts are merely talking heads of what the government wants them to say. Not a single one of them is pushing staying active as a way to boost immunity, stay healthy, and potentially lower the risk of people getting COVID.

Social media is a great resource for fitness enthusiasts, competitors, & businesses catering to the industry. Interactive platforms bring people together from all over the world, spanning all age ranges, with unparalleled retention. Most people don’t buy magazines anymore, they don’t spend hours on message boards, and they don’t even watch much tv or listen to the radio. If you were to poll most young people, young adults, and even people up to middle-age, you’ll find that they spend more time on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. News apps are also springing up, competing for hits and traffic. These include Tiktok, Likee, and of course, Snapchat.

The 2020 Mr. Olympia was full of excitement and ended the year on a good and extremely exciting note. We got to see and witness the best of the best up on the Olympia stage, battling it out for the title and the honor to take home the Sandow trophy. When it was all said and done, Big Ramy was the last man standing and solidified himself in history as one of the greatest to ever win the prestigious Mr. Olympia title. This had many people wondering if the mass monster movement was, now, going to be making a comeback?

Here we go, folks!! Are you ready? Big Ramy hasn’t been Mr. Olympia for two weeks and now you have a cluster of industry insiders saying Ramy will hold the title for years to come. Let’s break this down. For starters, it took Ramy six tries before he was able to put everything together – and – he was the only guy on that stage who didn’t earn the right to be there.

TRAFFICKED – THE MAN BEHIND THE NEEDLE?

The title of this article is just one of many choice phrases used in this new National Geographic documentary “Trafficked – Takeaways: Steroids” all about Dr. Tony Huge. Yeah, I know he’s not a doctor, but he has a JD. He is not a medical doctor and a JD isn’t really a PHD, either, but it does have doctorate in the title. Anyways, no one actually thinks Huge is a doctor, it’s part of his schtick, and this documentary couldn’t help but feed on it, not even ten minutes in. That being said, don’t get it twisted, I love this documentary, from the naivety of the host, Martha Van Seller, to her fascination with Tony calling his athletes “guinea pigs,” to the soundtrack and special effects.

WAS HADI CHOOPAN ROBBED?

For starters, I’m not a big fan of the term being “robbed,” simply because bodybuilding is a subjective sport and whatever the judges are looking for, is correct. Unlike objective sports (e.g. basketball, baseball, football), when it comes to physique based sports, those who score the various rounds, are looking for criteria that corresponds with what they believe will collectively decide the winner. This is why different judging panels in different regions of a country could award placings significantly differently than others. This is part of the reason why I have always contended that bodybuilding is one of the toughest sports on the planet.
