You may recall that back in 2016 I was involved in a terrible situation involving a supplement manufacturer. Simply put, I was working for a company named Prime Nutrition and designed some formulas for them. For several reasons, I began to get suspicious and paid to get the products tested to see if the proper ingredients and doses were actually in the product. They failed miserably. What was on the label was not in the products. I still have the test results. Simple as that. The manufacturer in question was Duracap labs. They were run by Wes Hauser and Ben Mesika. Wes admitted to wrongdoing.

The world of bodybuilding and fitness has come alive ever since Hunter Labrada started upon his bodybuilding journey. It became clear, very early on, that this wasn’t a fad for the youngster – he was poised to follow in his father’s footsteps. Lee Labrada has inspired generations with his structurally-perfect, symmetrical, and flawless physique. He always said that posing is art, and now that sentiment resonates with everyone from top athletes to coaches all around the world.

Everyone, the world over, is beyond excited at the return of Women’s Bodybuilding to the 2020 Olympia Weekend. When the division was first removed, many of us scrambled to figure out ways to keep it. When all hope seemed lost, a few of us even wrote up a petition, thinking that maybe if enough people signed it, that the then owners (AMI) would reconsider. The bottom line was all about dollars and cents. The division wasn’t making them the returns they had wanted. The problem is, AMI didn’t know to do anything to properly promote muscular women.

Have you ever watched the old school Ronnie Coleman VHS tapes of his life and workouts? I’m talking about the videos he put out and sold called Unbelievable, On the Road, The Cost of Redemption, and Relentless just to name a few. I remember back when I was just getting into bodybuilding and I would sit on the couch and watch each video one after the other. I’d sit there all day in awe of what Ronnie Coleman was capable of doing and what he was willing to put himself through to the be the best.

Let’s cut right to the chase as opposed to spending half an article trying to rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic. When it comes to business, change is inevitable. You either evolve or you get left behind. Sometimes companies, particularly large ones, can defy changing times and keep it business as usual for the indefinite future. This is a way of maintaining an internal status quo, while ignoring the larger one at play in the marketplace. There’s a variety of reasons why this might be more suitable than scrapping old ways of doing things instead of teaching an old dog new tricks.

If you like bodybuilding and you like to stay up to date with the sport, then this is going to be an easy sell. I love watching and listening to programs that cover the fitness industry with class. There’s so many websites and so many programs that are all about chasing hits. When your single objective is fame, the concept of ethics goes out the window.

Bodybuilders have a tendency to take themselves way too seriously. There’s guys who live that GQ lifestyle, showing off expensive cars, the snazziest threads, and only post to their social media when they’re eating somewhere elegant, staying at a ritzy hotel, or partying at a club somewhere exotic. A lot of those guys, however, don’t have a pot to piss in, but that’s neither here nor there. The reality of the matter is that fans don’t identify with athletes, whatever the sport, who tend to hold their fame and fortune over the heads of those who support them.

So many people these days are judgmental and sensitive to how people look. Bodybuilders only look that way because of steroids. She’s too skinny and fit, she must not eat all day. Etc. But, it now appears that people are actually having an issue with how mannequins look. Folks, I can’t make this stuff up. It’s for real.

In a recent interview, Rich Gaspari told Generation Iron that he believes supplement quality is going down because there is an over saturation in the market. It’s interesting to hear this coming from Rich Gaspari who owns Gaspari Nutrition because it’s something I’ve been saying for a long time as well. Not only is the supplement quality as a whole going down, but also the margins for all parties involved.
