Mr. Olympia Big Ramy Update

I’m happy to see 2x Mr. Olympia Big Ramy posting more content – even if most of what we’re seeing is off-season stuff. I’m not crazy about the fact he’s 340lbs and we’re sixteen weeks out. I can’t say I’m super impressed by the champ’s obsession with size. It means little next to nothing when you consider how atrocious he looked last year. I mean if we’re being honest The Egyptian Phenom got his ass handed to him by The Prodigy at last year’s Olympia. The fact the judges gave him the prejudging and the finals is proof positive that the champ knows the title is his – no matter what. That removes all fear of consequences and it doesn’t exactly motivate him to improve either.

The Arnold Classic & Muscular Women

Nothing upsets me more than to see both Women’s Bodybuilding and Women’s Physique both excluded from the Arnold Classic. The consensus back in the day was that the women were “going too far,” whatever the hell that means. All of the talking heads were saying that WPD was going to get it right. That it was the more marketable approach to female muscle. Many of the purists in the sport knew better. We knew that guys like Bob Cicherillo wouldn’t stop poking fun at muscular women. And there was no shortage of measures that were taken to try to put limits on what women could do. It really ran the gamut from the 20% Rule to the near extinction of the WBB. When WPD first came out it was the talk of the town. Dana Linn Bailey catapulted it to the headlines. While the buzz brought about new adherents to the muscle world nothing was more depressing than seeing former female bodybuilders actively reduce size. It’s one thing to shed fat but it’s quite another to lose muscle. Some ladies saw success but that vast majority saw nothing but heartbreak.

Don’t Forget About Brandon “The Prodigy” Curry!

Everyone is saying that Andrew Jacked is the second coming!! Everyone is talking about the guy who dominated Texas! A couple weeks ago everyone was talking about how Kamal should have won Tampa. Before that there was talk about Michael Krizo officially crossing over and how well he’d do at the Olympia. Meanwhile there’s been plenty of talk at the water cooler about Derek Lunsford, how huge he is, and how he could possibly win the Olympia. Of course now the big talk is about GoodVito – who by the way isn’t even a pro with the Pro League yet – and how much damage he could do at the 2022 Olympia. The pundits are also tripping over themselves because Ramy is bigger than a house and shocked the world with his ONE post on social media just recently.

Derek Lunsford’s Indecision on the Mr. Olympia

We’re five months out from the 2022 Mr. Olympia and 212 Mr. Olympia Derek Lunsford has still not made a decision as to whether he’ll be remaining in The 212 or moving up to Open. It’s pretty clear based on his sheer size which division he’ll more likely compete in, but nothing has been set in stone. Many pundits have correctly pointed out that Lunsford is just too big – in terms of muscle – to intentionally lose all of it (if that’s even safe to do) in order to squeeze back into the lighter division. If the champ plans to move up, however, it doesn’t seem that Chief Olympia Officer Dan Solomon is all too eager to extend him a special invite.
